This year our by-invitation-only VIP event is scheduled for Thursday, January 28th from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m (the night before the sale opens to the public). Not only will you have first choice on sale items but you will also receive 40% OFF those sale items. While you are shopping, have a glass of wine or juice or a luxurious chair massage. There will also be snacks and sweets to munch on.

Maclaren Stroller Recall

We want to let you know about a recent and extensive recall on all single and double Maclaren strollers. According to the Maclaren website, "The voluntary recall is to alert the operator when opening or closing the stroller of the possible risk of injury." Apparently there have been 12 instances of amputation or laceration when children's fingers were caught in a hinge mechanism while the stroller was being opened or closed. The company is providing a free repair kit that will cover the hinges and is designed to fit all strollers. Maclaren USA Recalls to Repair Strollers Following Fingertip Amputations

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Maclaren Strollers

Units: About one million

Distributor: Maclaren USA, Inc., of South Norwalk, Conn.

Hazard: The stroller’s hinge mechanism poses a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is unfolding/opening the stroller.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 15 reports of children placing their finger in the stroller’s hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports of fingertip amputations in the United States.

Description: This recall involves all Maclaren single and double umbrella strollers. The word “Maclaren” is printed on the stroller. The affected models included Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller.

Sold at: Babies“R”Us, Target and other juvenile product and mass merchandise retailers nationwide from 1999 through November 2009 for between $100 and $360.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled strollers and contact Maclaren USA to receive a free repair kit.

Semi-Annual Blowout Extravaganza

It is that time of year again . . . our biggest sale of the year is scheduled for the last weekend in July. Beginning Friday, July 24th you will find amazing bargains with almost everything in the store marked down 30%. Saturday, July 25th, the discounts get deeper and 40% will come off the price of those items included in the sale. Finally, on Sunday, July 26th, we will take 50% off all remaining sale items.

So, what is on sale? All the clothing in the store will be included. We will also include any and all previously owned merchandise that has been in the store for more than a few weeks. This will include toys, gear, etc. There will be a handful of new products included and we will have detailed information for you at the time of the sale. Breastfeeding Cafe

Breastfeeding Café, an informal drop-in gathering will be held every Monday afternoon between 1:00 - 2:00 at The Red Hen. Breastfeeding Cafe is an opportunity for breastfeeding mothers to bring their babies and meet other nursing moms in a casual setting. A Leader accredited by La Leche League International will be on hand to answer questions, provide up-to-date information, or just chat.

Bring your baby or stop by on your lunch break to:

* Visit with other mothers and babies.

* Ask breastfeeding questions of an accredited LLL Leader.

* Learn about other LLL events and happenings in Chapel Hill and beyond.

Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, babies, and toddlers who need to be with their mothers are welcome. Interested in breastfeeding? The Breastfeeding Café is the place to be!
