Maclaren USA Recalls to Repair Strollers Following Fingertip Amputations
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Maclaren Strollers
Units: About one million
Distributor: Maclaren USA, Inc., of South Norwalk, Conn.
Hazard: The stroller’s hinge mechanism poses a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is unfolding/opening the stroller.
Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 15 reports of children placing their finger in the stroller’s hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports of fingertip amputations in the United States.
Description: This recall involves all Maclaren single and double umbrella strollers. The word “Maclaren” is printed on the stroller. The affected models included Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller.
Sold at: Babies“R”Us, Target and other juvenile product and mass merchandise retailers nationwide from 1999 through November 2009 for between $100 and $360.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled strollers and contact Maclaren USA to receive a free repair kit.

We are thrilled for our newest staff member Beverly! She is a grandmother for the first time. She and her daughter graciously allowed us to post these beautiful photos. Mom and baby are doing well! Welcome little one~
Semi-Annual Blowout Extravaganza
It is that time of year again . . . our biggest sale of the year is scheduled for the last weekend in July. Beginning Friday, July 24th you will find amazing bargains with almost everything in the store marked down 30%. Saturday, July 25th, the discounts get deeper and 40% will come off the price of those items included in the sale. Finally, on Sunday, July 26th, we will take 50% off all remaining sale items.
So, what is on sale? All the clothing in the store will be included. We will also include any and all previously owned merchandise that has been in the store for more than a few weeks. This will include toys, gear, etc. There will be a handful of new products included and we will have detailed information for you at the time of the sale. Most of our new products like Ergo, Bravado, Fuzzi Bunz, and some of the local wares will not be included in the sale.
Our VIP "Invitation-Only" pre-sale event will be Thursday evening, July 23rd, from 7 - 10 p.m. before the sale opens to the public (on Friday morning). You will again find the best selection with a special just-for-you discount. There will be other special treats too!! This is our way of saying thank you to the customers that make The Red Hen possible.
